FIRST TIME BREATHER
Info, Preparation & Waiver
Before joining a Baba’s Breathwork session — online or in person — please read the following and complete the waiver below.
If the waiver isn’t completed, you won’t be able to attend.
ARRIVING TO THE SESSION
If this is your first session, keep things simple.
You’ll be lying down for most of the journey, so bring:
-
A yoga mat
-
A blanket
-
An eye mask (optional, but helpful)
You’ll be in this position for around 50 minutes. Comfort matters more than you think.
THE BREATH
We’ll be working with a conscious, connected breath.
This means:
-
Breathing through a relaxed open mouth
-
Full inhale into the belly and chest
-
A soft, unforced exhale
-
No pause between inhale and exhale
We’ll practise together before we begin.
WHAT THIS DOES
This style of breathing shifts the chemistry of the body and the state of the nervous system.
You may notice:
-
Increased sensation in the body
-
Emotional release
-
Changes in awareness or perception
Rather than trying to “understand” it, it’s more useful to let the body lead and observe what arises.
WHAT YOU MIGHT EXPERIENCE
No two sessions are the same, but common experiences include:
-
Tingling or light cramping in hands, face, or feet
-
A sense of floating or altered awareness
-
Emotional release (tears, laughter, frustration, relief)
-
Spontaneous movement or stillness
If intensity builds, you can always slow the breath or return to nasal breathing.
You are not being taken anywhere. You are staying with yourself — just more directly.
A NOTE ON CONTROL
You regulate the depth of your experience through your breath.
There’s no need to push.
Often the most useful sessions are the ones where nothing dramatic happens, but something quietly shifts underneath.
AFTER THE SESSION
Give yourself a little space afterwards.
Have:
-
Water nearby
-
A journal if you want to reflect
You don’t need to “figure it out” immediately. Let it land.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
This work isn’t suitable at this time if you have:
-
Cardiovascular conditions
-
Epilepsy
-
History of aneurysm
-
Detached retina
-
Pregnancy
-
Diagnosed bipolar disorder or schizophrenia
-
Uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, or thyroid conditions
If any of these apply, reach out and we’ll refund you fully.
